  • Update on Previous Grants for Washer/Dryer for athletic dept and full size refrigerator for Special Ed grant

  • Final Cost: $3871.05

Request: 10 seed durable, reusable seed propagation trays, 10 propagation tray liners. 

Number of students benefited:  55, plus more through school beautification efforts.

Amount of Grant: $670 (number will be reduced if financial aid comes through)

  • Report from Katherine Moore on Ghent Business Association -Defer to October Meeting

  • Moe’s fundraiser 9/21

    • Moe's makes ready-to-eat dinner kits. They will donate $5 to Boosters for every box sold and $10/box if we sell more than 50. 

    • Sept. 21st is the same night as Maury Open House; Moes will bring the food boxes to Maury for pick-up between 6-7 pm

    • Flyers are available and will also be posted on Maury Buzz

    • Send to Ghent Civic League – still need to pick up at Maury 

  • Sponsor Banner – by 9/21 Open House? -Brian

  • Cross Country Fundraiser – Maury Boosters is hosting the fundraiser 

  • Fruit Sale Fundraiser - Defer to October Meeting

Committee Report – Marketing/Communications – Chairs: Karla Hakansson/Rebecca Danchise/Christine Redel

  • Booster branding/Booster logo update

    • Half wagon wheel and Maury “M”

    • Rebecca will e-mail a draft to the Board

  • Need flyer to distribute at Open House 9/21to promote Boosters

    • Teachers can hand out flyer at first bell

  • First Maury Booster Association Newsletter sent out 9/5/23

    • How often to send out? – Every month 

    • Rebecca can help Julie with the fonts

    • Karla – suggestion: sponsor exposure – offer coupons or advertise etc

  • Vote 2 teachers onto Board for 2023-2024 school year: Dr. Catherine LaVoy and Ms. Samantha Wegener

  • Application will soon be live on Boosters Website – what is best way to inform students?

    • Check with Teacher Sponsors for 2024, 2025, 2026

Committee Report – Teacher Appreciation – Chairs: Monica Lynch/Steven Traylor

  • Back to School Breakfast – Hugely successful! Comments and takeaways for next year are attached at end of minutes

    • Teacher’s feedback – all of their colleagues were happy as clams

    • Love the “snacks” raffle prizes to give to students

  • Next events: Halloween and Holiday Lunch in December

    • Teacher reps feel the Halloween treats are a great pick-me-up

  • Any ideas from teachers on different or better ideas?

    • Extra candy from Halloween can be dropped off at front desk 

    • Fruit snacks are also popular among the kids

  • Orchestra, Band, Scholastic Bowl, etc will be included

  • Senior Flowers – a few orders have come in

    • Encourage parents to arrange with coaches to put orders in

    • Tommy (AD) has been asked to forward info to coaches

    • Trivia Night – “Are You Smarter than a Maury Student?”

      • Elation does Trivia night on Thursdays

      • Other breweries also do trivia night

      • Pay to play, get a drink ticket

  • NARO – “Maury Movie Night” rent out theater for older movies, 

  • Can also sell alcohol

  • Wed Sep 20th 2:15 pm– Meeting with teachers to process grants

  • Future Needs: 

    • Thursday, Sept. 21st - Maury Open House. Volunteers needed to work Registration table (3 volunteers - 5pm - 5:45pm) and T-shirt sales (5pm - 7pm).

Most popular prizes were Goldfish, Fruit Snacks, Amazon Gift Cards. Amazon Wish List and Donation options were a hit. 

Notes regarding Food: 

  • Consider starting breakfast as soon as they arrive to alleviate long line

  • Too many bagels

  • 4 OJ, need at least 6 (if we had smaller juice cups, it would have lasted a little longer? They used the bigger coffee cups and juice went faster, maybe)

  • Had 4 chicken mini trays, received 5 + large tender tray and ALL was eaten. I would not adjust hot dishes. 

  • Eliminate granola.
